Positive Retaliation

Producer of Shrek is Jeffrey Katzenberg who once employed by Disney and Disney’s chairman—Michael Eisner. Then he devoted himself to Disney and he made a great contribution to raise the attraction of their commercial business. But they have some disputes about why Eisner promoted his friend rather than him. Katzenberg set up DreamWorks, which causes some major tension in film industry.
Katzenberg created a character Lord Farquaad who is at a height of three feet. Katzenberg's height once caused a comment made by Eisner, “I hate that little midget” He used a form of parody to show that success id not related to height. I love his thoughts that whoever you are, you can find your happiness and love. I think it is true charm of DreamWorks. The kind of stories is fairy tales rather than tales for children. The subject of fairy tales is love and hope. We can state his ideals run through his whole works. Whether you're a princess, a donkey or even a big, green, stinky ogre, you can find love.
Maybe it is a kind of widely publicity, which result in more people seeing the movie. It shows a positive attitude to believe in love. When he heard about “ I hate that little midget.” He is not self-contemptuous for his height and he tell us we need to love ourselves whatever we are. His positive spirit inspires us and his entertaining gives us happiness. Even if it is retaliation, it is a positive retaliation.

Self-reliance Cinderella

I like this version of Cinderella. In the film, Cinderella is active and self-reliance rather than passive and waiting other’s help.
The traditional Cinderella is only a fairy tale, which is unrealistic in reality. The film emphasizes some qualities in which can help woman to do better in daily life, and I think it makes the story more reasonable. For an instance, there are helps in traditional Cinderella. The birds help Cinderella to own beautiful dresses and give her opportunities to participate in dancing parity. In this process, Cinderella did nothing and only to wait other’s help. The Cinderella looked for allies actively and kept faith in herself, which is premise to attract prince. I like the active attitude because we can’t depend on others always. You will lose many chances and become more and more passive if you always depend on others. On the other side, even if you have attracted prince with other’s help. Who can guarantee prince will always love you. It has a modern story of Cinderella on the Internet, the final ending of Cinderella is she does housework in palace. In fact, I think it fits reality. After all, Cinderella is passive and she has strong dependence, which can be shown that she doesn’t make efforts whatever happens. I think she has no attraction except beauty. And the Cinderella is self-reliance, smart and active in the film. She is faithful to her dreams, keeping them secret and nourishing them until they are strong enough to bear fruit. She knows what she wants to own and she is willing to make efforts for her dream. And we shouldn’t always depend on others. We should remember “ we look for dream and come up with ways to come true it, in which we will become self-reliance”.
I also support writer’s thoughts of “ people always choose something that others will envy rather that what she want to own”. It is a common fault that we ignore what is the most important thing. It doesn’t aim at love and there are many similar thing happens in other aspects. For an instance, we will choose some useful thing rather than something that will give us some spiritual happiness. In fact, however high price we will pay. It doesn’t matter when we are 70 old. Why do we choose what we want to own?

Happy Ending

I found a phenomenon that most novels’ happy ending is heroine got happy marriage before I read the article. They like to get married in the future there will no quarrel and betrayal.
On the other hand, it is a dreamy situation. People also like to read perfect story such as true love and great affection. Maybe it is rarely happen in real life so people put their hope in a false world, which can be novels, movies and stories. Maybe it can give people some comfort. On the other hand, I think it has a very bad influence to people especially to females. There are some traditional thoughts in some old novels. For an instance, the main heroine threw herself under a train because she left her husband and ruined her life in “Anna Karenina”. And females should obey the rules of society, which she can’t file for divorce even if she has no passion and feeling to keep her marriage. The kind of thoughts will hinder the free development of woman and it gave woman a standard thought, which the happiness of females is to get man’s love. I think it is personal choice. Marriage and happy ever after is a good life, and free and easy is also a good life. But many novelists ignore the reality. They refuse to think of reality.
In fact, I think writhing is a painful thing. Writing is to build a world and then to destroy it. I think a good novelist is to analysis himself and to castigate and expose society rather than building a perfect dream. I can’t deny power of love such as famous poet browning. Maybe all beginning of love can use the poesy “A shadow across me. Straightway I was ware, so weeping, how a mystic shape did move, behind me, and drew me backward by the hair, and a voice said in mastery, while I strove, Guess now who holds thee? – Death, I said, there, the sliver answer rang, ---- not death, but love.” There are also some misunderstandings happen in marriage. Maybe you lose your interest to your husband and feel bored to the bald life. It is reality rather than betraying love.
There are many kinds of happy ending in life. Marriage, freedom and equality.

Beauty

People always have a traditional image of beauty. Most of people think beauty of man is strong and muscly. But drag queens break up our traditional thoughts.
When I see drag queens, I ignore their gender and pay attention to amazing beauty. They are man. But when they perform beauty of women, maybe they are more sexy and beautiful than women. The real beauty is unrelated to gender. But most of people put themselves imprisoned in a small world. They have no courage to admit they are different. For an instance, when a man recognizes he like dressing in skirt, he will think he is abnormal. We always pay attention to the shape which society imposed on us. Then we will oppress our nature, which we are not happy. I think people can ignore some voice. It’s your freedom what kind of life you want to own.
The popularity of drag race also show the society is more and more comprehensive in America. I think it is a good phenomenon. Our society can accept diverse and we should celebrate diverse. On the other side, it explains that our world is more exoteric and more democratic.
